How to brief a design studio so your first result lands in 24 hours

A clear brief is the fastest way to a great first result. Here’s the short version we ask every client to fill in.

The quality of a first design result depends heavily on the brief. Long briefs aren’t better briefs. What helps is clarity on a handful of things. Here’s what we ask for, and why.

1. The one goal

What should this project change? “More demo requests from mid-size agencies” is more useful than “a modern website.” One goal makes every design decision easier.

2. Who it’s for

Describe your best customer in two or three sentences: their role, what they care about, and what usually makes them hesitate. We design for that person.

3. What already exists

  • Brand assets, even rough ones: logo files, colors, fonts.
  • Current website or product access.
  • Any research, reviews or sales call notes you already have.

4. Three references, with reasons

Share three sites or products you admire and say what you like about each. “The way Linear explains features in short sections” tells us far more than a link on its own.

5. Constraints

Deadlines, platforms (Webflow, Framer, your own stack), legal requirements, and who signs off. Knowing the decision-maker early avoids surprise feedback later.

6. What “done” looks like

List the deliverables you expect at the end. We’ll turn that list into a day-by-day plan in our first result: the project brief.

Send us these six points before the kickoff call, and your first result will usually land within 24 hours.

Don’t have everything? That’s fine. Send what you have and we’ll fill the gaps together on the call.

Ready when you are

Let’s make your first result happen today.

Tell us what you’re building. We’ll reply with a clear next step, not a long sales pitch.
